Things You Must Do to Keep Your Electric scooter Like New
Keeping your electric scooter well maintained is key if you want to enjoy riding hassle-free for years to come. Here are the top 10 things I recommend you do on a regular basis to keep your ebike running like new:
• Check the battery.
The battery is the heart of your ebike, so check it frequently for damage, leaks, loose connections and monitor the voltage. Clean battery terminals to
ensure a good connection.
• Inspect the charger and charging port. Look for any damage, corrosion or loose connections in the charger and charging port. Replace the charging
cable if frayed or damaged.
• Lubricate moving parts.
Apply grease to hinges, linkages, brake and gear cables to reduce friction and prevent premature wear. Simple but effective!
• Tighten all nuts and bolts.
Vibrations caused while riding can loosen fasteners over time, so check that everything is snug and tight.
• Check wheel bearings and brakes.
Spin the wheels to ensure bearings rotate smoothly and freely. Check brake pads for sufficient thickness and rotors for excessive wear.
• Clean and inspect chain and sprockets.
Clean and apply lubricant to the chain to prevent rust and damage. Check for proper tension and wear on chain and sprockets.
• Change fluids.
Follow the manufacturer's recommendation for changing brake and clutch fluids to maintain peak performance. Fresh fluid goes a long way.
• Give it a wash.
Wiping down your electric scooters after riding removes dirt, dust and road grime that can corrode parts if left untreated. Clean lenses on lights and turn signals too.
•Test all lights and controls.
Make sure everything works smoothly before your next ride, from turn signals and horn to throttle and brake levers. Replace bulbs that are worn.
• Take a test ride.
After performing maintenance, get back on your ebike and ride slowly at first. This ensures you didn't miss anything during the inspection process.
With regular maintenance, your electric scooters will serve you well for many miles to come. Taking good care of it now will save you from bigger problems and repairs in the long run. Happy and safe riding!
